INGREDIENTS

  • 8 oz NY Strip Steak
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 tbsp dried rosemary
  • 1 tbsp dried thyme
  • 1 tbsp salt, divided
  • 1 tbsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

DIRECTIONS

  • Place about 3 inches of water into a pot large enough to lay the steak flat. Add garlic, rosemary, thyme, and 1/2 tbsp salt. Bring water to a boil. Add steak to boiling water and boil for 3 minutes.
  • Remove steak from boiling water and dry with paper towels.
  • Sprinkle both sides of steak with 1/2 tbsp salt and black pepper.
  • Heat heavy skillet on medium high until hot. Add olive oil and spread to cover bottom of skillet. Add steak to hot skillet and cook for 2 minutes. Flip steak and cook for 2 minutes. Remove steak from skillet and rest for 5 minutes. Steak should be medium rare. For medium, boil steak for 5 minutes.
