INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups canned pumpkin
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar or 3 piloncillo (Mexican raw sugar cones)
  • 1/2 teaspoon anise seed or coarsely ground nutmeg

DIRECTIONS

  • Place pumpkin, sugar, and anise seed in a saucepan. Cook over medium heat for 20 minutes. Cool.
  • Use as a filling for Empanadas turnovers.
