INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup water
  • 3/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup tomato paste
  • 2/3 cup vinegar
  • 1/3 cup dark brown sugar
  • 3 tbl molasses
  • 1 1/4 tsp liquid smoke
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp ground mustard
  • 1/8 tsp paprika
  • 1/8 tsp garlic powder

DIRECTIONS

  • Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan over high heat and whisk until smooth.
  • Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 45 minutes or until thick.
  • After sauce cools you can use it immediately, but it is best to store in a covered container in the fridge overnight to allow the flavors to blend.
  • Yields 1 1/2 cups.
