INGREDIENTS

  • NY Strip Steak or steak of choice, 1 inch thick
  • 2 tsp Monterey Steak® seasoning

DIRECTIONS

  • Place a heavy bottom skillet, preferably cast iron, over medium-high heat.
  • Pat dry the steak. Sprinkle each side of the steak with 1 tsp of steak seasoning. Press the seasoning into the meat.
  • When the skillet is very hot, place the steak into the skillet. Do not move the steak for 4 minutes. Flip the steak over placing the uncooked side down into the skillet.
  • Do not move the steak for 3 minutes. After 3 minutes, flip the steak over and cook for 2 minutes. Flip the steak over every two minutes until checking the internal temperature of the steak with an instant read thermometer the steak reaches the target temperature of 122°F for rare, 140° for medium, and 160° for well-done.
