INGREDIENTS

  • 4 8 oz. smoked or cured ham steaks
  • 2/3 cup dry (hard) cider
  • 3 tbsp double (heavy) cream
  • 2 tbsp sunflower oil
  • salt and ground black pepper
  • flat leaf parsley, to garnish
  • mashed potatoes, to serve

DIRECTIONS

  • Heat the oil in a large frying pan until hot. Neatly snip the rind on the ham steaks to stop them curling up and add them to the pan.
  • Cook the steaks for 3 to 4 minutes on each side, then pour in the cider. Allow to boil for a couple of minutes, then stir in the cream and cook for 1 to 2 minutes, or until thickened. Season with salt and pepper, and serve immediately.
