INGREDIENTS

• 4 slices corned beef, per sandwich
• 2 slices rye bread, per sandwich
• 1 cup sauerkraut, per sandwich
• 2 slices White American or Swiss cheese, per sandwich
• 1 pickle spear, per sandwich
• 1,000 Island or Russian salad dressing
• Butter or margarine, for bread
• Garlic powder

DIRECTIONS

• Butter each slice of rye bread and sprinkle lightly with garlic powder. Place buttered side of bread onto a flat top grill or into a heavy skillet on medium heat. Place cheese onto one slice of the bread to completely cover the slice. Place 1 cup of sauerkraut onto the grill, tossing to heat sauerkraut through.
• Place four slices of corned beef onto the grill. Once corned beef is heated through, place on top of the cheese. Top corned beef with sauerkraut.
• Spread dressing, to taste, on the uncovered piece of rye bread. Place dressed slice onto the other slice of sandwich to close the sandwich. Serve with pickle spear.
