INGREDIENTS

  • 2 lbs. beef round steak, 1/2 inch thick
  • 3 Tbl. flour
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 can (16 ounces) tomatoes, cut up
  • 1 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. basil
  • 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups (6 ounces) mozzarella cheese

DIRECTIONS

  • Cut meat into serving size pieces; coat with flour.
  • Melt butter in a skillet. Brown meat slowly on both sides. Put into a 12 x 8-inch baking dish.
  • Combine tomatoes, salt, basil, and green pepper. Pour over meat.
  • Bake, covered, at 350°F 1 hour, or until meat is tender. Remove cover. Sprinkle with cheese and bake an additional 5 minutes, or until cheese is melted. 8 servings.
