INGREDIENTS

  • 4 lb. round steak, cut into small cubes
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 5 large onions sliced
  • 1 lb. fresh mushrooms, sliced
  • 3 Tbsp flour
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp marjoram
  • 1/4 tsp thyme
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup beef bouillon
  • 2 cups burgundy wine

DIRECTIONS

  • Toss meat in flour. Place shortening into a skillet over medium heat. Once shortening has melted, add meat and cook, stirring occasionally, to brown well.
  • Remove meat from skillet and set aside. Add the onions and the mushrooms to the skillet and saute until onion are tender.
  • Add all remaining ingredients to the skillet and stir to mix well. Return the meat to the skillet and stir.
  • Simmer for 1 1/2 hours or until meat is tender. Serve over rice.
