INGREDIENTS

  • 2 (20-ounce) cans of unsweetened crushed pineapple, undrained
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 2 1/2 pounds deli ham, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 10 slices Swiss cheese or cheddar cheese, optional
  • 10 kaiser rolls, split

DIRECTIONS

  • Mix together the pineapple, onion, light brown sugar, and mustard. Place half of the pineapple mixture into a 5-quart slow cooker. Top the mixture in the slow cooker with 1/2 of the ham. Repeat the layers.
  • Cover and cook on low until heated through, for about 3-4 hours.
  • Using tongs, remove the ham from the slow cooker, leaving the pineapple mixture in the slow cooker. Keep the ham warm. In a large saucepan, mix the cornstarch and water together until smooth. Stir in the pineapple mixture. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  • Reduce the heat to low. Simmer, uncovered, until the mixture is slightly thickened, stirring occasionally. Serve the ham, pineapple mixture, and cheese on the kaiser rolls.
