INGREDIENTS

  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 (28-ounce) can of diced tomatoes
  • 1 (16-ounce) can of tomato sauce
  • 1 (6-ounce) can of tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 lb. spaghetti noodles, cooked per instructions
  • garlic bread, optional
  • Parmesan cheese, optional

DIRECTIONS

  • Place the ground beef into a large skillet. Turn the heat to medium-high. Cook the ground beef until it is crumbly and no longer pink. Drain the grease from the skillet and set the browned meat aside.
  • In the same skillet add the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the onion and green peppers to until soft and tender, 7 to 8 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Return the ground beef to the skillet. Add the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, and tomato paste and stir to combine all very well.
  • Add the oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer the sauce, stirring occasionally, for 1 hour. Serve with the pasta, garlic bread, and Parmesan cheese.
