Torta Dough Recipe yields a very tasty, workable and versatile torta dough using yeast, honey, salt, flour, eggs and butter or margarine in this delicious torta dough recipe.


  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm (105° to 115° F) water
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened


  • Sprinkle yeast over warm water in large bowl of an electric mixer; add honey. Let stand until yeast is soft (about 5 minutes). Mix in salt and 1/2 cup of the flour. Beat at medium speed until elastic (about 3 minutes).
  • Beat in the 2 eggs, one at a time, until smooth. Gradually beat in the remaining 1 1/2 cups flour to make a soft dough. Beat in butter, 1 tablespoon at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Transfer dough to a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in bulk (about 1 hour), Stir dough down.
