A square style of pizza developed in Detroit, similar to Sicilian-style pizza. The pizza is deep dish crisp crust with toppings such as pepperoni and olives with marinara sauce instead of standard tomato sauce. The crust, in addition to being crisp is sometimes twice baked in an heavily oiled pan which gives the crust a fried and crunchy texture.
