Spiced Almond Coffee Cake Recipe bakes a coffee cake with flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, butter, sugar, vanilla extract, eggs and sour cream and tops with brown sugar, cinnamon and sliced almonds to make this tasty coffee cake recipe.

INGREDIENTS
|
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
|
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
|
1 teaspoon each baking
powder, baking soda, and
ground cinnamon
|
1/4 teaspoon each salt, ground
nutmeg, and ground allspice
|
1/2 cup butter or margarine,
softened
|
1 cup sugar
|
3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
|
3 eggs
|
1 cup sour cream
|
For Almond Topping:
|
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
|
2 tablespoons flour
|
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
|
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
|
1/2 cup sliced almonds
|

DIRECTIONS
|
1:
Preheat oven to 350° F. Stir together
flours, baking powder, baking
soda, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, and
allspice. In large bowl of electric mixer,
cream butter with sugar until light
and fluffy. Blend in vanilla. Then add
eggs, one at a time, beating well after
each addition.

Add flour mixture to creamed
mixture alternately with sour cream,
mixing to blend after each addition. Spread batter in greased 9 x 13-inch baking pan. Sprinkle evenly
with Almond Topping.

Bake until almonds are brown and
coffee cake tests done when a
wooden skewer is inserted in center
(30 to 35 minutes). Cut in squares and serve warm or
at room temperature.

Almond Topping: In a medium
bowl mix brown sugar, flour, and
cinnamon. Cut in butter until
coarse crumbs form. Stir in almonds.
