Sour Cream Spice Cake is a fantastically tasty cake using cake flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, shortening, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla, vinegar, sour cream and nuts to make this delicious spice cake recipe.

INGREDIENTS
|
2 cups sifted cake flour
|
1/2 teaspoon salt
|
1 teaspoon baking soda
|
1 teaspoon cinnamon
|
1/2 teaspoon cloves
|
1/2 teaspoon allspice
|
1/2 cup shortening
|
2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
|
2 eggs
|
2 tablespoons vinegar and sour cream to make 1 cup
|
1 teaspoon vanilla
|
1/2 cup broken nuts
|
|

DIRECTIONS
|

Sift flour, salt, soda, and spices together.

Cream shortening; add sugar gradually
and cream until fluffy. Add eggs,
one at a time, beating well after each
addition. Add vanilla. Add combined
vinegar and sour cream alternately with
dry ingredients and beat until smooth.
Fold in nuts.

Turn into 2 greased 9-inch layer cake
pans, 1 1/2 inches deep, or about 32 cup-cake pans.

Bake in moderate oven (375°F.) 25 to
30 minutes for layers; 20 to 25 minutes
for cupcakes. Makes 2 9-inch layers or
32 to 36 2 1/4-inch cupcakes.
