Mocha Frosting Recipe uses coffee, confectioner's sugar, shortening, salt and vanilla to create this outstanding mocha frosting recipe.

INGREDIENTS
|
About 1/3 cup strong coffee
|
4 cups firmly packed sifted confectioner's sugar
|
1/2 cup shortening
|
1/8 tsp. salt
|
1 tsp. vanilla
|
|

DIRECTIONS
|
1:
To make strong coffee, add 1/2 cup medium-ground coffee to 1 cup cold water. Heat to boiling. Remove from heat and let stand 2 minutes. Strain and cool slightly.

Combine sugar gradually with shortening and add coffee as needed to make a creamy smooth mixture. Add salt and vanilla. Spread on cooled cake.

Makes frosting for tops and sides of two 9-inch layers.

Mocha Chocolate Frosting: To above recipe, add 1 square (1 ounce) melted unsweetened chocolate. A little more coffee may be needed for good spreading consistency.
