Date and Walnut Brownies Recipe creates unique and very delicious brownies using flour, baking powder, butter, unsweetened chocolate, sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, chopped walnuts and snipped dates.


INGREDIENTS
2/3 cup unsifted flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/3 cup butter or margarine
2 squares (2 oz) unsweetened chocolate
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup each chopped walnuts and snipped dates


DIRECTIONS
1: Preheat oven to 350° F. Sift flour with baking powder. In a small, heavy saucepan over low heat, slowly melt butter with chocolate; cool slightly. In a large bowl beat eggs. Add sugar gradually; beat until smooth and well combined. Blend in chocolate mixture and vanilla. Add flour mixture; mix well. Stir in walnuts and dates.
 
2: Spread batter evenly in a greased or nonstick, 8-inch square baking pan. Bake until edges begin to pull away from pan sides and a wooden toothpick comes out clean when inserted near the center (about 25 minutes).
 
3: Place pan on a wire rack; cool for 20 to 30 minutes. Cut into 2-inch squares. Brownies are at their best served slightly warm, topped with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
