DIRECTIONS
1:
Crumble ground beef into a 1 1/2-quart casserole or an 8-inch round glass cake dish.
2:
Cook, uncovered, for 5 to 6 minutes, or until meat has lost its red color. Stir once during cooking time.
3:
Break up meat with a fork. Add salt, oregano, dry mustard, pepper, onion, tomato juice, and cheese. Stir thoroughly.
4:
Cook, covered, for 1 to 2 minutes, or until cheese is melted and mixture is piping hot. Place toasted hamburger halves on a broiler pan. Spoon hamburger mixture on top of each bun. Top each with a slice of tomato. Dot with butter. Place under broiler on conventional range and broil until tomatoes are lightly browned.
