Spaghetti with Meat Sauce Recipe uses cooking spray, onion, garlic, tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, sugar, salt, red pepper flakes, spaghetti, ground turkey, and cheese in making this very tasty ground turkey spaghetti recipe.

INGREDIENTS

cooking spray
|
1 cup onion, chopped
|
4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
|
2 28 oz cans plum variety tomatoes, undrained, coarsely chopped
|
6 oz tomato paste
|
1 1/2 tsp dried basil
|
1 tsp dried oregano
|
1 tsp sugar
|
1/2 tsp table salt
|
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper flakes, optional
|
12 oz uncooked spaghetti
|
20 oz uncooked extra lean ground turkey breast
|
2 tbsp, grated Parmesan cheese or Romano cheese
|
|

DIRECTIONS
|

Coat a medium pot with cooking spray and heat over medium-high. Add the onion and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add the garlic and cook for 2 minutes. Add the tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, sugar, salt, and crushed red pepper (if using) and bring to a simmer. Simmer, uncovered, until the sauce has thickened, 25 to 35 minutes, stirring often.

Cook the pasta according to the package directions. Drain the pasta and keep warm.

Meanwhile, coat a 12-inch skillet with cooking spray and heat over medium-high. Add the turkey and cook, breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon, until cooked through, about 10 minutes. Stir the turkey into the tomato sauce and cook for 5 minutes. Serve the sauce over the pasta and sprinkle with the cheese.
