Hot Paradise Sandwiches Recipe uses pineapple, onion, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, deli ham, cornstarch, Swiss cheese, and kaiser rolls in constructing this unique and delicious ham sandwich recipe.


INGREDIENTS
2 (20-ounce) cans of unsweetened crushed pineapple, undrained
1 medium onion, finely chopped
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1/4 cup Dijon mustard
2 1/2 pounds deli ham, thinly sliced
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons water
10 slices Swiss cheese or cheddar cheese, optional
10 kaiser rolls, split


DIRECTIONS
1: Mix together the pineapple, onion, light brown sugar, and mustard. Place half of the pineapple mixture into a 5-quart slow cooker. Top the mixture in the slow cooker with 1/2 of the ham. Repeat the layers.
 
2: Cover and cook on low until heated through, for about 3-4 hours.
 
3: Using tongs, remove the ham from the slow cooker, leaving the pineapple mixture in the slow cooker. Keep the ham warm. In a large saucepan, mix the cornstarch and water together until smooth. Stir in the pineapple mixture. Bring the mixture to a boil.
 
4: Reduce the heat to low. Simmer, uncovered, until the mixture is slightly thickened, stirring occasionally. Serve the ham, pineapple mixture, and cheese on the kaiser rolls.
