Onion Hot Dogs Recipe cooks onions in butter and vegetable oil with catsup, tomato sauce and hot pepper sauce to create a delicious topping for grilled hot dogs.

INGREDIENTS

2 tablespoons butter or margarine
|
|
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
|
|
3 cups thinly sliced onions
|
|
1/2 cup catsup
|
|
1/4 cup tomato sauce
|
|
1/4 teaspoon salt
|
|
Dash of hot pepper sauce
|
|
8 franks
|
|
8 hot dog buns, toasted if desired
|
|
|
|

DIRECTIONS
|
|
1:
In medium-sized skillet over medium-low heat, heat butter and oil. Add onions; cook slowly 10 to 12 minutes, or until onions are soft, translucent and golden. Stir in catsup, tomato sauce, salt and hot pepper sauce. Grill franks and place on buns. Top with onions.
