Virginia Chili Hot Dog Recipe makes a delicious hot dog chili with ground beef, onion, chili powder, tomatoes, tomato paste, beer, corn niblets and salt to top grilled hot dogs in creating this tasty hot dog chili recipe.

INGREDIENTS
|
1 pound ground beef
|
1 medium-sized onion, chopped
|
1 tablespoon chili powder
|
1 can (16 ounces) tomatoes
|
3 tablespoons tomato paste
|
1/2 cup beer or ale
|
1/4 teaspoon salt
|
1 can (8 1/2 ounces) corn niblets, drained
|
8 franks
|
8 hot dog buns, toasted if desired
|
Processed cheese spread, optional
|
Chopped onion, optional
|
Coleslaw, optional
|
|

DIRECTIONS
|

In large skillet, over medium heat, combine ground beef and onion, breaking beef into small pieces and cooking until meat is browned and onion is tender. Spoon off and discard fat drippings.

Add chili powder, tomatoes, tomato paste, beer and salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, about 15 minutes, or until the liquid has reduced and the chili has thickened. Stir in corn.

Grill franks and place in buns. Top with warm chili and garnish with cheese, onion, and/or coleslaw, if desired: Any leftover chili can be frozen for up to 3 months.
