DIRECTIONS
|
1:
In medium mixing bowl combine all ingredients.
Divide mixture into 6 equal portions. Form each
portion into 3 1/2-inch diameter patty.
|
|
2:
If using a griddle, set to 350°F. Skillet, etc., set to medium-high.
|
|
3:
Ideally a thermometer would be used to check the done-ness, removing the patties at the desired temperature. If no thermometer is available, a good guideline is to turn the patties after two minutes of cooking, cook two minutes more and turn again, cook another 2 minutes and check for done-ness (6 minutes should be close to well-done. cook less than 6 minutes for medium, etc.)

4:
Stuffed Italian Hamburgers: Follow the recipe
above, except form hamburger mixture into twelve
3%-inch diameter patties. Saute 3/4 cup chopped
fresh mushrooms in 1 teaspoon butter until just
tender. On each of 6 patties place 2 teaspoons
cooked mushrooms and 1 scant tablespoon
shredded mozzarella cheese, leaving 1/2 inch
around edges. Top with remaining patties. Pinch
edges together to seal. Cook as in step 3.
