Sausage and Tomato Hoagies uses bacon, Italian sausages, onion, celery, paprika, salt, black pepper, white wine, tomatoes, soy sauce, lime juice, basil leaves and hoagie rolls to create this sausage sandwich recipe.

INGREDIENTS
|
8 oz. bacon, chopped into 1 in. pieces
|
1 1/2 lbs. sweet or hot Italian sausages
|
1 medium Spanish onion, finely chopped
|
1 celery stalk, peeled and finely chopped
|
1 tsp. paprika
|
1/2 tsp. kosher salt
|
1/4 tsp. coarse ground black pepper
|
1/2 cup dry white wine
|
1 (28 oz.) can diced tomatoes
|
1 Tbl. dark soy sauce
|
Juice of 1 lime
|
6 hoagie rolls, halved lengthwise and toasted
|
Fresh basil leaves
|

DIRECTIONS
|

Cook bacon in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat until browned and crisp, about 10 minutes, stirring often. Remove bacon and drain on paper towels, reserving drippings in skillet.

Add sausage to skillet and cook, turning often, until browned on all sides, about 8 minutes. Remove sausage from skillet. Add onion, celery, paprika, salt and pepper to skillet and cook over medium heat, stirring often, until soft, with some bits sticking to bottom of skillet, about 10 minutes.

Stir in white wine and simmer 3 minutes. Cut sausages into 1 inch thick slices; return sausage and bacon to skillet. Add tomatoes and soy sauce and stir until thoroughly combined. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 20 minutes.

Stir in lime juice just before serving. Divide sausage mixture evenly among 6 hoagie rolls and sprinkle with basil.
