Salsa Verde Green Tomato Sauce Recipe combines tomatillos, cilantro, onion, serrano or jalapeno chiles, green onions, lemon juice and salt to create this refresing and tasty salsa recipe.

INGREDIENTS
|
1 pound tomatillos (Mexican
green tomatoes, available in
Hispanic markets), canned
or fresh
|
1/4 cup minced cilantro
|
1/2 cup diced white onion
|
2 to 3 serrano or jalapeno
chiles, minced
|
2 green onions, minced
|
Lemon juice to taste
|
Salt to taste
|
Additional minced cilantro,
for garnish (optional)
|

DIRECTIONS
|
1:
Drain tomatillos if canned. If fresh, husk them and blanch them in boiling water to cover until tender, about 12 minutes; drain. Core tomatillos and mince.

In a small stainless steel, glass, or ceramic bowl combine tomatillos, cilantro, onion, chiles, green onion, and lemon juice to taste. Add salt to taste just before serving.

To make in a food processor, put tomatillos,
cilantro, onion, and chiles in work bowl fitted with steel blade; process briefly. Mixture should be slightly chunky. Stir in green onion by hand; add lemon juice and salt to taste just before serving.
