Tomato Mushroom Pizza Sauce Recipe is very tasty and will be good in many dishes and uses olive oil, onion, mushrooms, garlic, tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano and basil to create this delicious pizza sauce recipe.


INGREDIENTS
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 large onion, finely chopped
1/4 pound mushrooms, thinly sliced
1 clove garlic minced or pressed
1 can (14 1/2 oz) Italian-style tomatoes, coarsely chopped
1/4 cup tomato paste
1/4 teaspoon each salt, pepper, and dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil


DIRECTIONS
1: In a 2 to 3-quart saucepan heat oil over medium heat; add onion and mushrooms. Cook, stirring often, until onion is soft and mushrooms brown lightly.
 
2: Mix in garlic, tomatoes with their juice, tomato paste, salt, pepper, oregano, and basil. Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat, and simmer for 20 minutes.
 
3: Uncover, increase heat so sauce boils gently, and continue cooking until sauce is thickened and reduced to about 2 1/2 cups (12 to 15 minutes).
