Golden Oyster Stew Recipe sautes onion, celery and mushrooms in butter then over low heat slowly adds flour, salt and pepper and milk before adding cheddar cheese, cream of potato sour, pimientoes, pepper sauce and finally oysters until they curl.

INGREDIENTS
|
1 can (pint) oysters, undrained
|
1/2 cup chopped onion
|
1/2 cup sliced celery
|
1/4 cup butter or margarine
|
2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
|
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
|
1 teaspoon salt
|
1/4 teaspoon pepper
|
2 cups milk
|
1 1/2 cups grated sharp Cheddar cheese
|
1 can (10 1/2 ounces) cream of potato soup
|
1 jar (2 ounces) diced pimiento
|
1/4 teaspoon liquid hot pepper sauce
|

DIRECTIONS
|
1:
Remove any remaining shell particles from oysters. Cook onions and celery in butter
until tender. Add mushrooms and cook one minute.

Over low heat, stir flour, salt and
pepper into vegetable mixture. Add milk gradually and stir until thickened.

Add
cheese; stir until melted. Add oysters, soup, pimiento and liquid hot pepper sauce.

Heat for 5 to 10 minutes or until oysters begin to curl.
