Rhode Island Style Calamari Recipe uses squid, milk, salt, flour, baking powder, black pepper, oil, and banana peppers in making this delicious calamari recipe.

INGREDIENTS
1 pound squid, cut into rings
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tbsp baking powder
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 cup sliced banana peppers

DIRECTIONS
1: Combine milk and salt. Whisk to dissolve salt. Place squid rings in the milk for 10 minutes.

2: Combine flour, baking powder, and black pepper and mix well. In a large pot, heat about 4 inches of vegetable oil to 370°F.

3: While the oil heats, remove squid from the milk, draining any excess milk. Place squid rings into the flour mixture to coat well. Remove the rings from the flour mixture and place onto a wire rack. Let rings rest for ten minutes. While the rings are resting, coat 1/2 of the banana pepper rings with flour mixture.

4: Once oil is to temperature, place rings into hot oil, stir gently to prevent rings from sticking together and cook for 2 1/2 minutes. With 1 minute of cook time remaining, place the floured banana peppers into the hot oil. When time has lapsed, remove the calamari and the peppers from the pot and place on a paper towel lined plate. Top the calamari with the remaining uncooked peppers. Serve and enjoy.
