Asparagus au Gratin Recipe combines asparagus, butter, flour, salt, milk, Cheddar cheese, eggs and bread crumbs garnished with paprika to create a delicious and tasty asparagus dish.

INGREDIENTS
|
1 lb, cooked asparagus or 1 box frozen asparagus or 1 (No.2) can asparagus
|
2 Tbsp. margarine or butter
|
2 Tbsp. flour
|
1/2 tsp. salt
|
Liquid from asparagus and enough milk to make 1 1/2 c.
|
1 c. Cheddar cheese, grated
|
4 hard cooked eggs, sliced
|
1/2 c. soft bread crumbs
|
Paprika
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|

DIRECTIONS
|
1:
Save liquid from asparagus. Melt butter or margarine and blend in flour and salt. Add liquid and cook until thickened, stirring frequently. Remove from heat.

Add cheese; stir until cheese is melted.
|

3:
In a greased 2 quart casserole, alternate layers of hard cooked eggs, asparagus and cheese sauce. Cover with bread crumbs. Sprinkle paprika over crumbs.

Bake in preheated 350°F oven for 30 minutes. Serves 4.
