Pennsylvania Dutch Style Green Beans

Pennsylvania Dutch Style Green Beans Recipe is a very interesting way to prepare and cook green beans using bacon, onion, cornstarch, dry mustard, brown sugar, vinegar and hard-cooked eggs to create this delicious green bean recipe.


INGREDIENTS
3 strips bacon
1 sm. onion, sliced
2 tsp. cornstarch
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. dry mustard
1 No. 303 can green beans
1 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 hard-cooked egg, sliced


DIRECTIONS
1: Fry the bacon in a skillet until crisp. Remove and crumble the bacon. Pour off all but 1 tablespoon of the drippings. Add the onion and brown lightly.
 
2: Stir in the cornstarch, salt and mustard. Drain the beans, reserving 1/2 cup liquid. Pour the bean liquid into the skillet. Cook, stirring, until the mixture comes to a boil.
 
3: Blend in the brown sugar and vinegar; add the beans. Heat thoroughly.
 
4: Turn into a serving dish and garnish with the egg and crumbled bacon.
