Calabaza Pumpkin Filling Recipe makes a great tasting filling for turnovers and is simple and easy to prepare using canned pumpkin, brown sugar or piloncillo and anise seed or ground nutmeg.

INGREDIENTS

2 cups canned pumpkin
|
1/2 cup brown sugar or 3
piloncillo (Mexican raw
sugar cones)
|
1/2 teaspoon anise seed or
coarsely ground nutmeg
|

|

|
DIRECTIONS
|
1:
Place pumpkin, sugar, and anise
seed in a saucepan. Cook over medium
heat for 20 minutes. Cool.

Use as a filling for Empanadas turnovers.
