|
Greek Joes Recipe uses ground meat, onion, tomato sauce, bulgur, dried oregano, salt and pepper, lettuce, kaiser rolls, and feta cheese in making this delicious sloppy joe recipe.

INGREDIENTS
|
|
1 pound lean ground lamb or ground beef
|
|
1/2 cup onion, chopped
|
|
1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
|
|
1/3 cup bulgur
|
|
1 teaspoon dried oregano
|
|
1/2 teaspoon salt
|
|
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
|
|
2 cups romaine lettuce, shredded
|
|
6 kaiser rolls, split and toasted
|
|
4 ounces feta cheese with tomato and basil, crumbled, or plain feta cheese, crumbled, for serving
|
|
|
|
|

DIRECTIONS
|
|
1:
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground meat and the onion until the meat is brown and crumbly and the onion is tender. Drain off any excess grease.

On medium-high heat, add the tomato sauce, the bulgur, the oregano, the salt, and the black pepper to the meat mixture and bring to a boil.

Reduce the heat and simmer the meat mixture until it thickens, about 5 minutes.

Add the lettuce to the kaiser roll bottoms, and then top with the meat mixture. Sprinkle the feta cheese over the meat mixture and return the kaiser roll top. Serve.
