by:    Charlotte S.

Pork Chops with Apple and Cider Sauce Recipe uses pork chops and brings together the traditional ingredients of pork and apples with garlic, sugar, vinegar, mustard and thyme to create this deliciously tasty pork chop recipe.

INGREDIENTS
1 tbsp oil
4 boneless pork chops
1 or 2 cooking apples, peeled, cored and sliced
pat of butter
1 or 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
1 tsp sugar
2/3 cup dry (hard) cider
1 tsp cider vinegar
1 tbsp wholegrain mustard
2 tsp chopped fresh thyme
salt and ground black pepper
sprigs of thyme, to garnish
To serve:
mashed potatoes
steamed buttered cabbage

DIRECTIONS
1: Heat the oil in a large heavy frying pan over a medium heat, and cook the chops for 10-15 minutes, browning well on both sides. Remove the chops from the pan and keep warm.

2: Add the butter and apples to the frying pan and cook until the juices begin to turn brown.

3: Add the garlic and sugar, and cook for 1 minute, then stir in the cider, cider vinegar, mustard and chopped thyme. Boil for a few minutes until reduced to a saucy consistency. Season to taste.

4: Place the chops on warmed serving plates, spoon over the sauce, garnish with the thyme sprigs and serve.
