Pan-Fried Ham with Cider
by:    Jenni Gallagher

Pan-Fried Ham with Cider Recipe cooks cured ham steaks in sunflower oil then adds dry (hard) cider and double (heavy) cream, salt and ground pepper before garnishing with parsley and serving with mashed potatoes to create this delicious ham recipe.

INGREDIENTS
4 8 oz. smoked or cured ham steaks
2/3 cup dry (hard) cider
3 tbsp double (heavy) cream
2 tbsp sunflower oil
salt and ground black pepper
flat leaf parsley, to garnish
mashed potatoes, to serve

DIRECTIONS
1: Heat the oil in a large frying pan until hot. Neatly snip the rind on the ham steaks to stop them curling up and add them to the pan.

2: Cook the steaks for 3 to 4 minutes on each side, then pour in the cider. Allow to boil for a couple of minutes, then stir in the cream and cook for 1 to 2 minutes, or until thickened. Season with salt and pepper, and serve immediately.
