Hash Brown Potatoes au Gratin

Hash Brown Potatoes au Gratin Recipe bakes hash brown potatoes, salt, pepper, green pepper, sliced pimientos and milk, then tops with buttered bread crumbs and American cheese and returns to oven to melt cheese.

INGREDIENTS
|
1 package (2 pounds) frozen
chopped hash brown potatoes, partially defrosted
|
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
|
Few grains pepper
|
1/4 cup coarsely chopped
green pepper
|
1 jar (2 ounces) sliced
pimentos, drained and chopped
|
2 cups milk
|
3/4 cup fine dry enriched
bread crumbs
|
1/3 cup soft butter
|
2/3 cup shredded pasteurized
process sharp American cheese
|

DIRECTIONS
|
1:
Turn potatoes into a buttered shallow 2-quart baking dish, separating into pieces. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Add green pepper and pimentos; mix lightly. Pour milk over potatoes. Cover with aluminum foil.

Cook in a 350°F oven 1 1/4 hours, or until potatoes are fork-tender. Remove foil; stir potatoes gently.

Mix bread crumbs, butter, and cheese. Spoon over top of potatoes.

Return to oven and heat 15 minutes, or until cheese is melted.
